CineScope
A Unique Cinema Experience for Independent Films
In 2019, CineMaker took a bold step in redefining the cinematic experience with CineScope, a boutique-style cinema theatre located in Narayanganj. With only 35 seats, CineScope is intimate and focused on building an audience for independent films. This initiative, a joint venture between CineMaker and the Narayanganj City Corporation, has been instrumental in nurturing a new wave of film appreciation in Bangladesh.
A Vision for the Future of Cinema
Inaugurated on September 20th, 2019, by renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker Mosihuddin Shaker, CineScope opened its doors with the Bangladeshi Film Festival, showcasing six decades of cinematic excellence. The theatre’s location in the Ali Ahammad Chunka City Library and Auditorium Complex on Bongobondhu Road, Narayanganj, adds to its cultural significance. Once an abandoned basement due to a legal dispute was transformed into this unique cinema space—a concept proposed by CineMaker and embraced by the City Corporation.
Not Just a Business, But a Cultural Movement
At CineScope, cinema is not seen as a business but a socio-cultural responsibility. Its mission is to bring independent films to a broader audience, with a special focus on the younger generation and female viewers who find the atmosphere inviting and comfortable. CineScope introduced a membership system that offers exclusive benefits, such as discounted tickets and access to the CineScope Film Club. Club members can enjoy classic films weekly, followed by enriching discussions.
A Unique Cinema Experience
More than just a screening room, CineScope is a place to immerse yourself in cinema culture. The waiting lounge features a small food zone for refreshments, a bookshelf filled with film-related literature, and a display of vintage cinema materials—offering visitors a glimpse into the rich history of cinema.
Fostering Independent Cinema
CineScope runs four shows daily, with a priority on showcasing independent films. Since its opening, nearly every independent film released in Bangladesh has had its moment on the CineScope screen. Filmmakers frequently attend these screenings, and special sessions with directors and audience members are a regular feature, creating a bridge between artists and viewers.
Transparency and Growth
CineScope’s commitment to transparency in financial dealings has drawn interest from commercial film distributors and producers, who appreciate the integrity with which the cinema operates. This success has inspired franchise offers from various regions, with plans to establish similar theatres under the CineScope brand across the country.
The Dream of Expansion
CineScope envisions a future where it becomes a national cinema chain, with branches in every district of Bangladesh. By providing an alternative distribution network for independent films, CineScope aims to transform the landscape of film exhibition, ensuring that artistic, independent cinema continues to find its audience and thrive.

CineScope is not just a theatre—it’s a cultural experience, a hub for cinephiles, and a platform for filmmakers to connect with their audience. Be a part of this cinematic journey and explore a world of films that push boundaries and inspire thought.
