At CineMaker, we believe in creating cinema without waiting for the perfect conditions. Founded in 2010 by five passionate people—Mohammad Nuruzzaman, Shily Nomany, Jahangir Alam, Shorif Emtiaz, and Juboraj Shamim—CineMaker is more than a production company; it’s a manifesto for dreamers. Our founding idea was to function like a “film band,” where each member contributes their unique talents to make a film that’s truly collaborative.
We call ourselves self-dependent filmmakers because we don’t wait for outside support—we create with what we have. And that philosophy drives not only our films but our entire ecosystem for independent cinema.
In 2019, we launched CineScope, a boutique theater, to showcase independent films. In 2023, we expanded with CineLoop, an alternative distribution network that connects films to audiences nationwide and within the global Bangladeshi diaspora. Through CinePeeth, our knowledge-sharing platform, we’ve hosted workshops and are growing toward establishing a film school.
Our journey led to the release of our first feature, আম-কাঁঠালের ছুটি SUMMER HOLIDAY (2023), which garnered national and international recognition. We also co-produced আদিম THE INSTINCT (2023), another milestone in Bangladeshi cinema. Along the way, we’ve shared our insights as a journal describing the path of making SUMMER HOLIDAY in the book নিজেদের সিনেমা, নিজেদের পথঘাট Our Films, Our Way, empowering a new generation of filmmakers.
With more films in the pipeline, CineMaker is here to push boundaries, inspire creators, and shape the future of independent cinema in Bangladesh.
